Main role:
The Transport Manager organises, optimises and oversees all freight transport operations, ensuring compliance with deadlines, budgets, service quality standards and applicable regulations. They are responsible for transport performance and ensuring products are delivered correctly to customers or internal sites.
Key
duties and responsibilities:
1. Transport organisation and planning
- Drawing up transport plans (inbound/outbound).
- Organising delivery or collection routes.
- Determine the appropriate modes of transport (crane lorry, covered lorry).
- Managing priorities according to urgency or constraints.
2. Team management
- Supervise teams of drivers and transport assistants.
- Provide training and support for staff.
- Facilitate team meetings, manage holiday schedules and assess performance.
3. Supplier management
- Selecting and negotiating with contractors for truck maintenance.
- Evaluate contractors (service quality, costs).
- Monitor contracts, disputes and commercial relationships.
4. Operational monitoring and reporting
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs): service levels, costs, adherence to deadlines.
- Implement continuous improvement measures.
- Ensure traceability of workflows and effective document management.
5. Compliance and safety
- Ensure compliance with regulations (transport, safety, environment).
- Ensure compliance with HSE standards.
- Manage transport-related incidents or accidents.
Required skills:
Technical:
- In-depth knowledge of transport and logistics regulations.
- Proficiency in IT tools and management software (TMS, ERP, Excel, etc.).
- Ability to analyse costs and logistics flows.

- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Education and experience:
- Two to five years of higher education in logistics, transport, supply chain management, or equivalent.
- Significant experience (minimum 3 to 5 years) in a similar role.
