What will make you successful in this role

Commercial knowledge of freight forwarding.
A track record of around 3 years or more in B2B sales, business development or equivalent roles within freight forwarding, international transport or logistics operators will enable you to start with a solid understanding of the market and clients’ needs.

Enjoying both opening up
new opportunities and building relationships.
The initiative to prospect, contact new companies, network and engage with decision-makers will be essential. At the same time, your ability to build trust will help you turn initial transactions into sustainable business relationships.

Understand the international transport ecosystem.
Your familiarity with shipping lines, airlines, carriers, ports, terminals and basic customs procedures will enable you to better interpret client needs and bring greater insight to every business conversation.

Knowledge of air, sea and/or land transport operations.
Experience in marketing one or more of these services will help you spot opportunities quickly and identify which solution can deliver the greatest value depending on the freight volume, route or client’s needs.

Knowing how to sell value beyond price.
Understanding concepts such as Incoterms, cost structures, pricing, margins and international trade documentation will enable you to put together proposals that are attractive to the client without losing sight of profitability.

Turning sales activity into results.
Effective management of your territory, diary, sales pipeline and priorities will be key to turning contacts and meetings into opportunities, new clients, volume and gross profit.

Build relationships based on trust.
The ability to listen, ask good questions and understand what really matters to the client will help you stand out in a competitive market and develop long-term accounts.

Communicate, negotiate and influence with ease.
You will be dealing with a wide variety of people. Adapting your approach, presenting your case clearly and conducting yourself with confidence in negotiations will be one of your key sales tools.

Respond quickly when conditions change.
International freight requires the ability to react to incidents, operational changes or new priorities. Your judgement and solution-oriented approach will help safeguard both the customer relationship and the quality of service.

Work independently whilst continuing to rely on the team.
You’ll have the freedom to organise your sales activities, but your best solutions will come from collaborating with Operations, Pricing, Customer Service, Finance and other areas of the organisation.

Work professionally in Spanish and English.
Fluency in Spanish and a professional level of English will enable you to interact effectively with clients, colleagues and teams in an international context. Knowledge of Portuguese or other languages will open up even more opportunities.

Use the CRM as a genuine sales tool.
Rigorously recording activities, opportunities, forecasts and next steps will help you manage the pipeline more effectively, anticipate decisions and gain a clear overview of where to invest your time.

Feel comfortable being out in the field.
Client visits, face-to-face meetings, trade fairs and events will form a natural part of your role. Holding a driving licence and being available to travel will enable you to build closer relationships.
