Our client, a leading player in the logistics sector, is seeking a Logistics Operations Director to manage a large-scale operational environment.
You will be responsible for the operations of a single-client (e-commerce) fulfilment centre covering 45,000 m² and employing 450 staff.
Reporting to the Site Manager, you will oversee day-to-day operations with a clear objective: to ensure operational performance and customer satisfaction, whilst supporting the teams in a demanding and constantly evolving multi-client environment.
Your responsibilities
As the head of operations, you will oversee all activities relating to goods receipt, storage, order fulfilment, stock management and dispatch.
You will manage and support your Operations Managers, set the direction and ensure that workload, resources and operational priorities are properly aligned.
You will ensure that quality, safety, productivity, cost and service level targets are met, analyse KPIs and implement the necessary action plans.
You maintain a close relationship with the client, anticipate their needs and ensure that commitments made in relation to the project are met.
You challenge organisational structures and operating methods to achieve sustainable improvements in the productivity, quality and profitability of operations.
You lead continuous improvement projects and support organisational transformations: changes to workflows, new organisational structures, information systems, management tools or the development of new business activities.
You ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safety standards.
Finally, you will work closely with the various support functions and assist the Site Manager with development projects and changes to the scope of operations.
Your profile
You have proven experience in managing large-scale logistics operations, ideally gained at a logistics provider/3PL or in a similar environment.
You have previously managed managers and large teams and know how to provide clear direction whilst remaining closely connected to the front line.
You have a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of logistics operations: organising flows, resource planning, productivity, service quality, cost control and management via KPIs.
You are comfortable using WMS systems, reporting tools and data analysis.
English is essential for this role in order to communicate effectively in a professional environment with international counterparts.
Beyond your professional background, we are looking for a manager capable of uniting teams, making decisions and driving operations forward. Leadership, high standards, a pragmatic approach, the ability to anticipate challenges and a hands-on approach will be key to success in this role.
