The Heavy Goods Vehicle Mechanic works on-site or on the road to carry out maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on commercial vehicles, ensuring their availability, safety and compliance with regulations.
Key
responsibilities
Preventive maintenance:
- Carrying out routine maintenance tasks (oil changes, filters, brake pads, tyres, etc.)
- Carry out periodic vehicle inspections
- Anticipate breakdowns and propose corrective measures
Diagnosis & repair:
- Identify mechanical, electrical and electronic faults
- Use on-board diagnostic tools
- Repair or replace faulty parts (engine, gearbox, axle, brakes, etc.)
Monitoring & traceability:
- Complete service records and maintenance software
- Track repairs and parts used
- Prepare vehicles for MOT testing
Safety & compliance:
- Comply with safety procedures
- Ensure compliance with current standards
- Maintain a clean and organised working environment
Required
profile: Education:
- CAP / Bac Pro / BTS in Industrial Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent
Experience:
- Experience in heavy goods vehicle, commercial vehicle or machinery mechanics is desirable
Technical skills
- Good knowledge of heavy goods vehicle mechanics
- Knowledge of electrical systems and on-board electronics
- Use of diagnostic tools
- Ability to read technical diagrams
- HGV licence
